2.5.9. Use of the all-wheel drive mode

Turn off the modes 4H and 4LO at movement along roads with a dry hard coating.

If at the movement on a dry hard coating the control lamp of the all-wheel drive mode 4WD lights up (see the Head of the Cooling system and heating), then in the AUTO and 4N modes it is necessary to transfer the switch of the all-wheel drive mode 4WD to situation 2WD, in the mode 4LO it is necessary to stop the movement, to switch AT to situation "N" and only after it to transfer the switch 4WD to situation 2WD — at the first opportunity drive away the car on car repair shop for performing the corresponding diagnostics and performance of necessary recovery repair.

Full-regime systems 4WD allow to choose one of four possible provisions of the transfer case (AUTO, 2WD, 4N and 4LO). The choice of the mode is defined by road conditions.

The order of change of the modes is given in the table.

For inclusion of the mode 4LO it is necessary to press the switch handle. For inclusion and switching off of the mode 4LO the car has to be stopped, and transmission is transferred to situation "N".

At neutral situation there is a shutdown of the AT parking mode that is accompanied by danger of rolling the car — do not leave the transfer case in neutral situation

1. Stop the movement.
2. Transfer the AT selector lever to situation "N".
3. Press the handle of the switch 4WD and transfer it to situation 4LO or 4N.
Without preliminary stop of the car and switching of transmission in situation "N" transfer of the switch to one of the stipulated provisions is not possible. **

If necessary to develop the maximum traction effort (for example at the movement on a steep slope, the stony, sandy or strongly polluted area)


* If after implementation of the table of the procedure stipulated in the corresponding column the control lamp of 4LO continues to blink, follows will continue the movement with a small speed and to try, whenever possible not to make sharp maneuvers until the lamp does not pass the mode of a continuous luminescence, or does not go out.
At the movement in the mode 4LO try not to make sharp accelerations and turns in order to avoid excessive wear of gear wheels and damage of the drive.

Use of the modes 4WD at the movement in cross-country conditions

By means of the switch 4WD choose corresponding from the all-wheel drive modes of the transfer case (AUTO, 4N or 4LO).

Move slowly, proportioning speed to road conditions.

For release of the got stuck car enclose flat stones or wooden beams under wheels and switch the transfer case to the mode 4H or 4LO and try to shake the car, alternately including a lobby, the reverse gear. In case of need use wheel chains. Try not to allow provorachivaniye of wheels with a high speed as it you bring е to stronger deepening them into liquid dirt, sand or snow.


Rules of use of the switch of the modes of the transfer case

Location of the switch of the modes of the transfer case — see the illustration Scheme of an Arrangement of Governing Bodies on the car dashboard.

The choice of the mode from four possible (2WD, AUTO, 4N and 4LO) is made according to road conditions.

In position of AUTO change of distribution of torque between lobbies and back driving wheels is made automatically depending on change of road conditions, at the same time the following ratio takes place: 0:100 (2WD)> 50:50 (4WD), allowing in an essential measure to increase stability of the movement.

Use of the switch in the AUTO, 4N or 4LO mode during turn commission, at acceleration / braking by the engine or switching off of ignition can cause breakthroughs that is norm and should not cause concerns.

Transfer of the lever of the AT selector to situation "N" or "P" at a car stop after commission of turn can lead to the easy twitching of the car connected with switching off of coupling of the transfer case.

Light indicator of the modes of the transfer case

The light indicator of the modes of the transfer case is built in the tachometer dial (see the illustration Scheme of an Arrangement of Elements of a Combination of Devices) and has to quickly (for 1 second) to work at inclusion of ignition, confirming thereby serviceability of functioning of the corresponding system.

At the started engine the indicator serves for display of the mode of the transfer case chosen by means of the lever of the selector or the switch 4WD (see above).

Switching of the modes can cause an indicator blinking, however upon completion of the choice it has to pass into the mode of a constant luminescence. If the indicator continues to blink after completion of switching, it is necessary to be passed a little forward with acceleration or a deseleration, or to be passed by a backing, then to repeat the procedure of switching of the mode of the transfer case.

Activation of a control lamp of 4WD (see below) has to be followed by shutdown of the light indicator of the modes of the transfer case.

The control lamp is built also in a tachometer (see the illustration Scheme of an Arrangement of Elements of a Combination of Devices), quickly works at inclusion of ignition, confirming thereby serviceability of the functioning, and has to go out right after implementation of start of the engine — the refusal of a lamp of switching off or its transition to the flashing mode demonstrates violation of serviceability of functioning of system 4WD.

Operation of a control lamp in neutral position of the transfer case, means need of the transfer of the switch 4WD to situation 4H or 4LO.

Activation of a control lamp has to be followed by shutdown of the light indicator 4WD (see above).

The overheat of gearbox oil in the transfer case leads to operation of a control lamp in the flashing mode with a frequency about two gleam a second (see the illustration Scheme of Functioning of a Control Lamp of the All-wheel Drive Mode) — the car should be parked immediately in the safe place and to continue the movement only after the lamp goes out.

Slow (about one gleam in two seconds) lamp blinkings during the movement the considerable difference in the diameters of forward and back wheels can be the reason (see the illustration Scheme of Functioning of a Control Lamp of the All-wheel Drive Mode) — switch in the mode 2WD and try to move not too quickly, at the first opportunity change wheels.
